In metropolitan France, the bells of our churches have stopped ringing since Maundy Thursday, since they are parties in Rome, look for chocolates.
Here, Guadeloupe, church bells have not stopped ringing. So the bells do not move up in Rome. It must be said that the road is long (8000km).
Therefore, small Guadeloupe are not looking for Easter eggs in their garden. They will camp in the seaside or near the River. I'll let you see the article on this tradition:
EASTER IN GUADELOUPE:
After Carnival, Easter is a great moment of conviviality where the family gathers around Guadeloupe a menu of circumstance, "the matété" crabs.
Traditionally the Easter reunion is carried out at the beach or riverside.
A month before the feast, hunters will ask crab traps in the mangroves.
The land crabs are caught they have sold for several weeks and then fed potatoes, carrots, tomatoes and peppers. A few days before Sunday Easter, preparations are well underway.
We start by going to identify a location on the beach to pitch our tents. Then it's time to tackle the menu. Easter, the cooks are the architects of the party. They leave all the kitchen utensils in preparation for the big day: pots, pans and brushes to paint the crabs.
Finally, as usual, the whole family together on the beach on Saturday Gloria.
Sunday mass ended, the festivities can begin.
We leave for the occasion, plates, plastic cups and coolers to enjoy the famous family matété that only a range of talent is allowed to prepare.
Finally, we light the "gas stove" to warm the matété to be eaten hot.
crabs are found topped with a sauce mixed with rice and excellent ... The festivities continue on the beach until Monday evening.
MATOUTOU MATET or CRAB. Matete "is a word Caribbean.
In Martinique we say instead "Matoutou.
According to the Reverend Father Labat, the "Matoutou" was, in the Caribbean, a sort of large flat that served as a table.
It was made of reed and palm frond and was completely waterproof.
Recipe: Turn 10 crabs cooked in small pieces, break out the pliers, remove and discard the shell as possible, which can give a bad taste.
fry anything edible oil, leave to return with a clove of garlic, 3 stalks spring onions, 1 onion, 2 sprigs of thyme and parsley for about ten minutes.
Water boiling water then cover up the pieces.
At this point, you add 1 bay leaf, pepper and salt, lime juice and 1 pepper.
Then you simmer a "big" ten minutes of you entering this idea that matété like stews, is never in a hurry!
You then remove all the pieces and you mix with creole rice prepared in the broth in which crabs were cooked.
HAPPY EASTER!
Our Easter in Guadeloupe:
For Easter 2009, our neighbor Fabienne has proposed to organize a hunt for eggs, followed by a breakfast in the hut, to keep the tradition Kingdom.
This year I wanted to make a decoration worthy of the name, first to occupy the children and secondly to beautify the hut.
The goal is to make a nice decoration at a lower cost, using all that nature gives us.
1 The Easter Tree
C is a tradition found in Germany.
are hung from the branches of shrubs, small decorated eggs.
The first time I saw one, that was in Paulette, (the queen of the decor and excellent cook), the first nanny to our little Angel in common Culoz.
C'en observing a small palm tree called the dwarf royal palm, which is across from us, near the ravine that I have had the idea to make my Easter tree.
Moreover, this palm produces seeds that, once painted, resemble small chocolate eggs. Angel and Célyan loved the paint ...
I have been able to pierce the seeds easily because of my Dremel. Hang them on the tree was a breeze thanks to a little fishing line.
The result:
2 of bunnies holding eggs:
Paper, paint, glue and voila
three rabbits in a box (or boxes rabbits)
I found the idea on the internet ...... Material: paper, glue and paint
4 Phones and Easter bunnies
To beautify our hut, we prepared some mobile: rabbits, chickens and eggs.
With the help of moving boxes, a little painting of Recycling and a cutter, you can get the cheap and nice decor.
Unfortunately the wind was right ear of one of my rabbits.
5 The egg baskets gourd
Fabienne had the idea of transforming old gourds abandoned in garages or balconies baskets.
This is great because I intended to throw those who were on our balcony.
Like anything with a little idea, sanding, drilling, and a good coat of paint, can do wonders .............. Here
calabashes of Célyan and Angel.
Our gourds are already drawn, they had no handles; J have therefore used raffia.
Here calabash Louis made by his mum and dad (Fabienne and William):
Chance fact that we chose the green bottom paint to the basket. With a rigid handle
, the basket was much more stable.
C is Charlie's turn to us present its super cart:
6 The egg hunt
As you read above, the bells n 'make no eggs in Guadeloupe.
So we asked two dads sympatic play the role of the bells.
Despite the strike, Carrefour Destrelland proposed some models of Easter chocolates.
Fabienne did not wait for the day to buy them for fear of missing.
Hence my desire to make myself my chocolates. But where to find plates for making Easter chocolates? The problem is
that we are on an island that does not celebrate this tradition in the same way.
In fact, I soon realized it was too late to come from France ....
But next year, thanks to my wonderful friend Marie, I can make my own top chocolats.Trop !!!!!!!
Here are our two beautiful bells (like the green basket) that have installed the eggs, at 8:00 am:
Here are our two beautiful bells (like the green basket) that have installed the eggs, at 8:00 am:
The children arrived at 08:30, all with their basket.
Dads bells had planned to divide the pitch into two parts: one side Célyan Louis and the two smallest, and the other girls: Angel, Julie and Charlie. William explains that the eggs collected will be shared equally.
