Angel was born December 24, 2002, one month in advance.
Her mom is always in a hurry, it was no surprise.
So each year we celebrate his birthday a few hours before Christmas.
No luck for Angel, his friends are often left in the family and organize a festival is often an impossible Christmas Eve.
This year we changed the rules and to differentiate Christmas and birthday of Angel, we have decided to celebrate it in early December.
This year will be Dec. 10.
For any self-respecting anniversary, we must provide for invitations, games and cakes. To remain consistent, we chose to operate from a theme and this year's seemed to be becoming himself, living on an island for nearly a year and a half the Pirates.
For weeks, we looked for ideas on the Internet without Angel suspects nothing. Then we launched the invitations.
regard to invitations, we have the message printed on Canson paper, we have grown old with a tea bag.
We then burned the edges to mimic the appearance of parchment.
The back of the invitation included a small card-shaped skull, a little story to frighten our shipmates, and test their ability to become true pirates.
No need for envelopes, we slipped the parchment in small glass bottles, with a little sand (Marie-Galante) and small shells (collected by the children) at the bottom.
For decoration, thank you to Nico who lent us a nice head.
The rest is composed of necklaces of seeds deposited on an inflorescence of palms painted red.
few balloons bearing the image of the pirate, as well as glasses and plates "Pirates of the Caribbean" complement the ambience
order to wait until the children lunch, we planned a stand of "messes up everything" (with cans recovered) and a few bowling for children.
While Chantal and William (thank you for his help) looked after the game, I could take care of installing the treasure hunt in the utmost discretion.
We released the Elefun, who always wins a resounding success. How? You do not know what it is? Watch the video.
games we have an appetite, we attacked a snack around 16 hours.
Chantal wanted to make simple cakes for children and adults autrespour.
Not to be outflanked on the day of the anniversary, Chantal has prepared a delicious tiramisu the week before the anniversary, then froze.
A little before tea, I made a stencil "skull" and then I sprinkled the whole tiramisu with icing sugar
before placing the stencil and sprinkle with chocolate powder .
the eve of the anniversary, Chantal also prepared a delicious recipe spotted on the internet a few days earlier: the tart melts almond and red fruit (raspberry originally).
I think that this is not a crumb remained.
To ensure the coup, there was also the famous bun that everyone calls us the recipe.
Sorry, there is no picture because she has eaten so fast that we have not had time to take her picture.
Finally, we still had a cake that sticks to the theme and the pirate ship was imposed.
Not having ever made before, I was afraid to miss it but the result has exceeded my expectations.
Angel was very happy.
Thanks to my bidou (Chantal for those who do not know) who has to redo the cake base for the boat because the first was not big enough.
A short video of the birthday song ...................... ........
............................ Creole version.
The hunt was launched on a fast pace so our little pirates were eager to discover the treasure.
With each bottle, the pirates were given a small clue to find the next destination and a small test.
Our little pirates and find the 7 seeds of "Job's tears" engraved with the initials of the word "PIRATES" from a box that was full.
They have also find a shell, a red, 2 cloves of flamboyant engraved with skulls (see photo-cons) from a big pile of pods, two mini coconut orange, a mysterious envelope (password written to the lemon ink that proves that passage of the flame) and finally a big red coconut to discover a pair of binoculars.
During the chase treasure, we asked William to install two Pinatas, handcrafted by Chantal.
What is a pinata?
The pinata is a shell-shaped ball of paper mache that is hanging from a rope in traditional Mexican celebrations throughout the year.
The rope is passed over a support (banche tree if it is in a garden, beam in our case) when suspended vertically. It fills
preferably treats but it can be toys, flour, confetti, seeds, rice, messages, money, depending on who is going to break.
What is a pinata? You break ...............
Children, blindfolded, are using a stick (pickaxe handle in this case) the burst in order to retrieve the contents. Every child is around, blindfolded, will attempt to break the pinata. The content will be shared. Once all the gifts opened, we gave free rein to their imagination. They had fun like crazy with the swords that Chantal had made up rods with tears of job.
With the blows, the pinata will hover in space. The circle of spectators will naturally large ... to avoid the blows.
For security reasons, we preferred to test the version Pinata, without the blindfold.
Here are some videos of the efforts of Angel, Julie, Charlie, Diana and Florence (great destroyer of Pinata)
You can observe pinatas on the following photos, before and after the children.
The children are so much fun that Angel had almost forgotten that she had not yet opened his presents.
At the end of the day, the children thanked us for the birthday party.
They had fun.
As for us, we were super tired.
in a future article we will reveal the secrets of the birthday party, a sort of making-of.
We will give you different cake recipes and the method for making a pinata.
soon for a new article, we will rest.
